Several years ago, a small-town newspaper ran a story about a mother who worked nights to provide for her children. Every evening before leaving, she tucked handwritten notes into lunchboxes, coat pockets, or shoes—short reminders like “I love you,” or “I’m proud of you.” The children later said those notes carried them through difficult days. Long before they fully understood sacrifice, they knew love—not because it was explained, but because it was shown.
Advent reminds us that God’s love comes to us in much the same way—not first as an explanation, but as a presence. Love arrives wrapped in flesh, faithful in action, and enduring beyond all things.
